Ahead of a July 6, 2025 broadcast, the official accounts for CITY THE ANIMATION today announced the casting of Makoto Kaneko (Kabashima in Tsurune) as Rindo Obina, the captain of Minami High School’s soccer club, and Atsushi Kosaka (Eiji in Scar on the Praeter) as Yamato Kurogane, who was said to be a baseball genius in his junior high days.
Based on the manga by Keiichi Arawi, Tachi Ishidate (Violet Evergarden) directs CITY THE ANIMATION at studio Kyoto Animation, with character designs/chief animation direction by Tamami Tokuyama (Sound! Euphonium animation director) and art direction by Shiori Yamazaki. Instrumental band Piranhans provides the music.
