Crunchyroll announced today during Sony Group Corporation’s CES 2025 press conference that a new digital manga application will join the service as a premium add-on, slated to launch later in 2025. The app will launch as a standalone, called Crunchyroll Manga, on iOS and Android with web browser support planned for the future. Crunchyroll Manga will first launch in English in the United States and Canada, with other language options planned.Stay tuned for a list of titles and publishers in the future.

More Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury is on the way... this time in manga form! A new spinoff will be coming to Comic Newtype in Spring 2025.Titled Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury: Seishun FRONTIER ("Youth Frontier"), the manga will be a "parallel story" set in near-future Japan, where Suletta and Miorine meet as high school girls.HISADAKE, who served as Setting Assistant for the original Witch from Mercury TV anime, will pen the scenario for Seishun FRONTIER.

Fate/strange Fake isn't the only active battlefield for the Holy Grail right now! Today, December 26, marks the print release of Volume 1 of the manga adaptation of Fate/Prototype: Fragments of Sky Silver. To mark the date, the manga has released a voiced trailer introducing readers to this branch of Kinoko Nasu's Fate saga.The original light novel series, penned by Hikaru Sakurai as a prequel to the Fate/Prototype OVA, ran from 2014-2017.

The Noto Peninsula Earthquake was an inland crustal earthquake that occurred on January 1, 2024 at 16:10 JST on the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. The magnitude of the earthquake was М7.6, and the city of Wajima and the town of Shiga, Hakui County, observed a maximum intensity of 7. To date, the earthquake has killed 462 people, mainly in Ishikawa Prefecture, injured 1,345, and damaged nearly 140,000 homes according to a report by Japanese Government's Cabinet Office.

The latest 14th volume of Yu Tsurusaki (story) and Shin Ikezawa (art)'s isekai fantasy comedy manga series Life with an Ordinary Guy who Reincarnated into a Total Fantasy Knockout released in Japan today on December 19. Japanese game and digital contents company Cygames confirmed today that the series surpassed one million copies in print (including digital editions) with the release of the volume. The manga has been serialized in the company's Cycomi website since November 2019.

Shueisha's Shonen Jump digital manga platform celebrated its 10th anniversary beginning in September of this year. To mark the occasion, an art exhibition dedicated to titles published on the platform—such as Kaiju No. Titled Shonen Jump Plus 10th Anniversary Exhibition, the event will be held in Tokyo at the Terrada Warehouse G1 Building venue from April 18 – May 18, 2025.

Tokyo Dome may have originally been built as a home stadium for the Yomiuri Giants, but the indoor baseball venue has also become the site of massive concerts. It's also an important site in the Oshi no Ko manga and anime, so of course it's the perfect place to celebrate the manga's big finale!Oshi no Ko: THE LAST STAGE in Tokyo Dome City will celebrate the manga, as well as central idol group B Komachi, in a takeover of the venue and its surrounding entertainment zone. Celebrations will last a month and include new videos, decoration, collabs with surrounding shops and more.Visitors can look forward to decorations and digital signage all around the event space celebrating the manga and its characters.

Japanese publisher KADOKAWA announced today that the long-awaited next 16th volume of Kiyohiko Azuma's slice-of-life manga series Yotsuba&! is set to release in Japan on February 26, 2025. It will have been just four years since the release of its previous 15th volume in February 2021.The manga has been serialized in Ascii Media Works' Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh since its March 2003 issue.

Less than a year and a half since the manga first appeared in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump, a new promotional video commemorating Kagurabachi 's fifth volume release in Japan today confirmed that the battle action series has accumulated 1.3 million copies sold/in circulation (including digital).The manga recently topped the Next Manga Awards 2024's Print category. Viz Media publishes an official English version of Takeru Hokazono's Kagurabachi manga and describes the story:As a young boy, Chihiro trains every day under his father to become a swordsmith. My Hero Academia creator Kohei Horikoshi wears his love for American superheroes on his sleeve, and that admiration is mutual. Coinciding with the release of the manga's 42nd and final volume today in Japan, an official art exchange collaboration with Marvel Comics featuring illustrations by Horikoshi and artists Edgar Delgado and Humberto Ramos was unveiled.Series fan Oliver Coipel was originally slated to provide the illustration before having to withdraw due to illness. While the Chainsaw Man anime has been off screens for a little while in preparation for the Reze Arc film, Tatsuki Fujimoto's manga is still going strong in its second part, bringing forth the story of Denji dealing with Asa – or realistically, Asa dealing with Denji. Before volume 19 releases in Japan on December 4, the Shonen Jump website revealed in an editor's comment that the entire series has surpassed 29 million copies sold (digitally) and printed (physically). The figure did not note whether or not the stat is worldwide or just centered on Japan.This print run update brings the Chainsaw Man manga an increase of one million copies in print since the last update in July 2024 and two million copies since the May 2024 update.

The date is set for the final volume of the My Hero Academia manga release in Japan. Following the end of Kohei Horikoshi's series on August 5, volume 42 will wrap things up in collected form on December 4, 2024.The final volume will also include 38 pages of original manga set after the final chapter, according to the series' official X (formerly Twitter) account. There are no further details as far as what to expect from those new pages.

This week's batch of licenses from Seven Seas Entertainment has arrived, and it's full of manga, audiobooks and novels, including Fuyumi Ono and Akihiro Yamada's The Twelve Kingdoms novel series. Following the release of three new chapters on self-publishing website Shosetsuka ni Naro today, including an epilogue and a prologue, In Another World With My Smartphone author Patora Fuyuhara confirmed the conclusion of the isekai series' decade-long story.Fuyuhara first began publishing the series online in April 2013 before it was picked up for print by HJ Bunko in 2015 and subsequently adapted into both manga and anime. J-Novel Club publishes an official English version of the light novels, while Yen Press licenses Soto's manga adaptation.

Between the recent cancellation of Yokai Buster Murakami and the upcoming One Piece mini-hiatus, there are a lot of spots to fill in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump. To that end, the next issue will feature two new titles—one hailing from One-Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100 creator ONE!The new series, titled Bug Ego, was first published in Weekly Young Jump in April 2023 and consists of two chapters so far. In October, it was announced that the title would move to the monthly mag Ultra Jump—but it seems the series is making a jump yet again.

Fans of We Never Learn: BOKUBEN rejoice—series creator Taishi Tsutsui will be back in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump starting this Sunday!Tsutsui will be premiering a brand-new manga titled Syd Craft: Love is a Mystery. According to the brief summary released by Shonen Jump, the series revolves around a great detective who, despite yearning for love, only ever finds more mysteries to solve. Subscribers to the Shonen Jump app will be able to read along with the new series as it comes out.The original manga of We Never Learn ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2017 and December 2020.

The official accounts for the One Piece manga announced yesterday that the series will not appear in the next two issues of Weekly Shonen Jump. The long-running series will be going on a two-week hiatus due to series creator Eiichiro Oda's health.The decision was apparently made late in the publication process, as Weekly Shonen Jump warns that One Piece is included both in the table of contents and as an option on their feedback postcard. The publisher apologizes for the inconvenience.

This week's slate of announcements came through for Seven Seas Entertainment, and the batch includes a new Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation audiobook. Later this month, singer Kiiro Akiyama will be releasing a song in collaboration with Choujin X—the ongoing manga series by Tokyo Ghoul creator Sui Ishida. Titled "Wannabe," the track drops November 19, in conjunction with Volume 11 of the manga.Ishida and Akiyama are known to be mutual fans, with Akiyama being a long-time reader of Choujin X and Ishida citing Akiyama's music as "BGM" for scenes in volumes 8 and 9 of the manga. Akiyama embraced the challenge of penning a song that encompasses the series's worldview, adding, "If the original author themselves could create the music, the purity of the sound would be incomparable."Ishida penned cover art for the upcoming single, featuring series protagonists Tokio and Azuma:Viz publishes the Choujin X manga in English, describing the first volume thus:Being a superpowered creature isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, though.

The idol industry manga series Oshi no Ko came to an end today in Weekly Young Jump, bringing a finale to the Aka Akasaka (story) and Mengo Yokoyari (art) series. To celebrate the final chapter, the series also revealed the manga has printed (physically) and sold (digitally) more than 20 million copies, putting it on the ever-expanding list of highest-selling manga of all time.  Fans of Aka Akasaka’s writing won't have to wait for long for their next series, as their next work will also start in Weekly Young Jump in Spring 2025.

Dark Horse Manga is getting ready to release another series from Wataru Nadatani, the Harvey Award-nominated author of Cat Gamer. This time the manga in question is Cat Crazy, the first volume of which is set to launch in English on June 24, 2025.Cat Crazy has Zack Davisson (H.P. Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness) returning to translate, with Susie Lee (Oh My Goddess!) lettering.

It has been a few months since the My Hero Academia manga passed the massive milestone of 100 million copies printed physically and sold digitally, and back then, creator Kohei Horikoshi released an illustration of Deku, All-Might, Bakugo and Todoroki lookin’ snazzy. To continue those celebrations, the anime team has converted that illustration into an anime visual in the style of the series we know and love! The anime visual will be used for merchandise in the future and will also feature in the My Hero ULTRA IMPACT smartphone game.
