The My Hero Academia stage at Jump Festa 2025 revealed today that the superhero anime series, based on the manga by Kohei Horikoshi, will premiere its eighth and final season in Autumn 2025. This will continue the Final War arc, which sees heroes pitted against villains for the soul of the superpowered community.  The staff from Season 7 continues for the final season, with series director Kenji Nagasaki acting as chief director and Naomi Nakayama in the director's chair at studio BONES.

After the My Hero Academia World Best Hero global character poll crowned Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight, known as Bakugo in civilian life, as the number one World Best Hero yesterday, the top three of that poll went into a 24-hour super quick survey to find THE MHA, aka the character that will be getting a bronze statue erected of them next year. The three characters from Kohei Horikoshi’s series to move onto this final round were, Bakugo, Deku and Todoroki.The official SHONEN JUMP YouTube channel revealed Bakugo as the winner of THE MHA. My Hero Academia creator Kohei Horikoshi wears his love for American superheroes on his sleeve, and that admiration is mutual. Coinciding with the release of the manga's 42nd and final volume today in Japan, an official art exchange collaboration with Marvel Comics featuring illustrations by Horikoshi and artists Edgar Delgado and Humberto Ramos was unveiled.Series fan Oliver Coipel was originally slated to provide the illustration before having to withdraw due to illness. Ever since the release of the final chapter of Kohei Horikoshi’s superhero manga My Hero Academia, the series has been holding a worldwide character poll to find out who is the World Best Hero. Those results were announced tonight on the SHONEN JUMP YouTube channel, revealing that Bakugo, Deku, and Todoroki will be moving into a run-off 24-hour character poll to find THE MHA, with the winner receiving their own real-life statue. Though, that’s not to say that Bakugo won’t be getting his own prize for becoming the number one World Best Hero!Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight came in first place, with Deku following in second place and Shoto in third place.

The date is set for the final volume of the My Hero Academia manga release in Japan. Following the end of Kohei Horikoshi's series on August 5, volume 42 will wrap things up in collected form on December 4, 2024.The final volume will also include 38 pages of original manga set after the final chapter, according to the series' official X (formerly Twitter) account. There are no further details as far as what to expect from those new pages.

It has been a few months since the My Hero Academia manga passed the massive milestone of 100 million copies printed physically and sold digitally, and back then, creator Kohei Horikoshi released an illustration of Deku, All-Might, Bakugo and Todoroki lookin’ snazzy. To continue those celebrations, the anime team has converted that illustration into an anime visual in the style of the series we know and love! The anime visual will be used for merchandise in the future and will also feature in the My Hero ULTRA IMPACT smartphone game.

Following the end of the My Hero Academia manga in August, the anime adaptation of Kohei Horikoshi’s manga must also ring the graduation bell. After the Japanese broadcast of the last episode of My Hero Academia Season 7, the series announced on its official accounts that My Hero Academia’s Final Season will be airing in 2025.
