After what feels like years of rumors, leaks, and tidbits of information direct from the source, Nintendo finally officially unveiled the Nintendo Switch 2 through a first-look teaser video on the company's official YouTube channel. The video confirms the Switch 2's look, its expanded size compared to the now eight-year-old original Switch and a 2025 release.Nintendo Switch 2 TeaserThe above teaser also includes a quick tease of something new to do with Mario Kart.  It confirms that most original Switch games will be compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2, as the new console uses the same type of cartridge as the Switch.

In the most on-brand way for Nintendo, the video game company revealed massive news for the upcoming Nintendo Switch successor console through its investor briefing and a text post on X (formerly Twitter). Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa posted on the social media service that the Switch successor will be backward compatible, letting people play their Nintendo Switch games and use Nintendo Switch Online on the new, still not formally announced, console. In the briefing, Nintendo confirmed that “a broad selection of titles released for Nintendo Switch” will be available on the Switch successor, likely with the base Switch games needing updates to work 100% on the successor console.
